Reimagining Faith: Exploring Psychedelics & the Sacred Mind with Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles
"Welcome to the Creating Space Podcast. My name is Olivia Lancashire and as a part of my undergraduate research with the lumen prize at Elon University, I am going to be conducting a series of interviews that will explore my current project: The Intersection Between Christian Perspectives on Hell and Religious Trauma. Today, I am excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles to the podcast! She is a Professor of New Testament, Altschuler Distinguished Teaching Professor, and the Founding Director of the Baptist House of Studies at Perkins School of Theology, SMU in Dallas, TX.
She holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. She is also the author of Death and Afterlife in the New Testament published in 2006. Dr. Clark-Soles' research and writing cover a fascinating range of topics, including evil, suffering, death and the afterlife, women in the Bible, disability studies in biblical interpretation, and the use of psychedelics in religious contexts. She speaks to diverse audiences, from the American Academy of Religion and the Parliament of the World’s Religions to counseling centers, theological schools, churches, and nonprofit groups. She is also an ordained Baptist minister with experience in both congregational and hospice settings."
